Local Community Benefit Society, Stroud Common Wealth, has offered to be the banker for any money we raise and possibly be the short-term owner of the fields until we can get a formal body set up.
This role is exactly what the Commonwealth has been doing for many years so this offer really helps us move the campaign forward.
To give you an example: Stroud Commonwealth bought Lansdown Hall when it was a run-down building, renovated it, ran it as a performance and exhibition space for a while before selling it to Stroud Town Council at no profit.
It is likely that the donations will be taken in a variety of ways;
Shares – that give supporters a say in decision making.
Donations – that can attract GiftAid and increase our ability to purchase the land.
Subscriptions – that help support the upkeep and development moving forward.
Partner organisations
We are in discussion with a number of partner organisations, who are supporting the move to community ownership and would be working with the group to deliver a number of improvements and management of the land.
